Mixed xylene (solvent)
ZMPC
Product Characteristics:
Xylene is a compound where two hydrogen atoms on a benzene ring are replaced by methyl groups, existing in three isomeric forms: ortho, meta, and para. Industrially, xylene is a mixture of these three isomers. Xylene has a pungent odor and is flammable. It can mix freely with ethanol, chloroform, or ether but is insoluble in water. Its boiling point ranges from 137 to 140°C.
2. Application Fields:
Xylene is widely used as a solvent in the paint, resin, dye, and ink industries. It is also used as a synthesis monomer or solvent in the pharmaceutical, explosive, and pesticide industries. Additionally, it can be used as a high-octane gasoline component and is an important raw material in organic chemistry. Xylene is also employed to remove asphalt from car bodies. In hospital pathology departments, it is mainly used for tissue clearing and dewaxing in tissue sections.
3. Usage Precautions:
Xylene is flammable, and its vapors can form explosive mixtures with air. Exposure to open flames or high heat can cause combustion and explosions. It reacts vigorously with oxidizing agents. Fast flow rates can generate and accumulate static electricity. Xylene vapor is heavier than air and can spread over considerable distances at lower levels, igniting back to the source when encountering an open flame.
